Blog // How Exercise Improved My Life

This is a "No Photo" Post. Here, I am going to talk about how exercise improved my life.

Once upon a time, I was a lazy person when it comes to exercising. I prefer to watch old movies, read books, eat foods, watch Anime (Anime Marathon. One series in One day), lay on my bed and draw, sketch, paint etc.

I terribly hated walking and I always ride a Jeepney or Taxi even if my destination was very near. It was difficult for me to walk and I always find myself out of breath. I remember that my friends complained a lot that I was too slow in walking and they were a bit irritated in following my pace.

And then when I entered High School we were required to attend Physical Education Class wherein we needed to learn different kinds of sports and exercises. The usual Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Aerobics, Gymnastics, Ballroom Dancing, Modern Dance etc... After four years I became slender.

However, when I was in University I became somewhat plump, not fat, just plump. I started to feel lazy to move around again because I needed to study so much. 24 hours was not enough to finish my homework, to review one subject and to prepare for almost everyday quizzes and examinations. I neglected my exercise habit reason why I became very unhealthy. Additionally, I started to eat in fast food chains again due to my over hectic school schedule and I was... influenced and invited by some of my friends and classmates to eat out. BUT! I don't drink SODA... I am Soda free for almost six years now.

After getting depress and almost suicidal due to some unfortunate circumstances that had happened in my life a few years ago... I developed Insomnia and Anxiety. I couldn't sleep at night. No matter what I do; counting sheep in different languages, listening to classical music etc... I still find myself staring at the ceiling of my room and I hated it because it gave me a lot of headache every morning.

Then one day, the year was 2013... I felt like I suddenly woke up from a terrible nightmare and saw my face and body on the mirror... and I was like "What did I do to myself?" I got alarmed and started to slowly shift my very unhealthy lifestyle to a healthier one.

The first thing I did was to exercise. I always use Youtube to search for dance steps and exercises to burn fats and tone the body. I disciplined and control myself until today. Whenever I tell something that I will do... I will do it.

Due to exercising:
  1. It reduces my Anxiety. I still get bothered about what might happen in the future but my fear is not that intense... my fear is the usual fear anyone will feel about the future.
  2. It helps me drink more water. Of course, as I exercise I sweat a lot. Sometimes I used two to three towels to swipe the sweat on my face and body. I need water to replenish what I sweat out. Mind you, I don't drink energy drink...
  3. It helps me to have a good night sleep.
  4. It makes me happy. After exercising, I always find myself more happier and positive about everything.
  5. It relieves my stress.
  6. It eases the tension in my body.
  7. It makes my Immune System Stronger.
  8. It makes my body flexible. Now, I can actually say that I can dance... ALONE. :)
  9. It helps me to move around with ease. I can finally walk a long distance without getting out of breath and irritated. Cost savings...
ETC. There are many benefits that I wanted to share but this post is a bit long in what I had intended to write.

So, nowadays... I still continue to exercise during holidays. One hour to two hours of Zumba and Aerobics is what I usually do because it makes me happy and helps me to set aside all the things that bothers me.

Try it and see for yourself how exercising might improve and change your life.

Sincerely,
Erica/Erix

Things that made me happy:
  1. Cooking. On my recent posts... I've been sharing some of the foods I cooked. Recently, I enjoy cooking.
  2. My Instagram post which was liked by one of my favorite authors "Gabriel Garcia Marquez". I am very happy. It was an HONOR.
  3. When my father ate the food I cooked.
  4. When my aunt and cousins told me that the food I cooked was delicious.
  5. That I am still alive and doing everything to be alive.
